How To Avoid Dysmenorrhea
Saturday, October 15, 2011

Sometimes I wish I was a boy so that I wouldn't have to go through intense pain everytime my "period" would come. I know a lot of girls would agree to this 'cause it really sucks having to experience this every month when boys only suffer for the pain of circumcision for what?... 3-4 weeks and then it's over. And I don't like the idea of taking pain relievers whenever I'm having menstrual cramps 'cause they say, your body might eventually become immune or unresponsive to such medications.

So I just decided to google for possible ways on how women can avoid experiencing dysmenorrhea. Well if you haven't known, dysmenorrhea is caused by contractions in the uterus. It gets really painful when it contracts too strongly to the point that it presses against blood vessels, cutting off the supply of oxygen to the muscle tissue of the uterus. Here are the possible ways to avoid it...
  • Place a heating pad or hot water bottle on your lower back or abdomen. Taking a warm bath may also provide some relief.
  • Rest. Avoid being stressed.
  • Avoid foods that contain caffeine.
  • Massage your lower back and abdomen.
  • Be active. You may do sit ups or may simply take a walk.
  • Lie flat on the bed to relax your muscles.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Include exercise in your daily routine. This will really prevent you from experiencing dysmenorrhea everytime your period would come.
